Abstract |
The crystal structure of short chain branched polyethylenes has a strong impact on the mechanical and processing properties of a material. The process variables for a production process also have a strong impact on the final structure and properties of a product. The ability of creating reliable mathematical models for the crystallisation process is therefore of high importance in order to produce products of optimum quality. In view of this, crystallisation kinetic under isothermal and non-isothermal conditions in differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) of a short chain branched polyethylene has been investigated. The crystallisation data were analysed using kinetic models based on the Avrami-theory. |
