Packaging Development
Norner has long experience in development and verification of new packaging concepts. This is enabled by our pilot lines which include:
- Injection moulded prototypes in caps, thin wall and other packaging
- Film multilayer extrusion and MDO pilots
- Extrusion blow moulding
- Thermoforming
Recycling Pilot Centre
Norner has been working extensively with recycling technology, recycled materials and product development with such materials during the past years which makes us a partner with relevant expertise for your projects.
Our new Polymer Exploration Centre, has more than 4500 sqm of plastic laboratories for advanced testing and analysis as well as a high-tech plastic processing, recycling, application, and packaging centre. This includes facilities for:
- Grinding and washing/rinsing of products
- Extrusion of recycled materials with a high-quality twin screw Coperion ZSK26 with vacuum venting and various feeding alternatives
- State of the art melt filter unit for cleaning the melt stream of recycled material
- Odour and volatile reduction technologies
- Other testing include: Filter-test, gels testing, composition and purity of polymer, additive analysis, migration, extraction and chromatography, T&O panel
- A wide range of standard material testing and polymer analysis
- Film extrusion, Blow moulding, Injection Moulding and Thermoforming
- Prototype product testing and material performance
RecyClass certification
Plastics Recyclers Europe developed RecyClass as a standardised tool for several types of recyclability assessments of plastic packaging, answering the needs of the entire plastic value chain.
- Design for Recycling Certification, which allows classifying qualitatively from A to F the technical recyclability of a final plastic packaging on the EU market.
- Recyclability Rate Certification, which allows rating the effective recyclability of a final plastic packaging in a specific geographical area.
- Letter of compatibility, which allows to evaluate the recyclability of semi-finished packaging qualitatively and based on the Design for Recycling Certification.
- Laboratory Testing Protocols for testing of new and innovative materials to prove their recyclability.
Norner is a certification body and recognised laboratory for protocol testing of recyclability. The recycling pilot centre is key to deliver the RecyClass laboratory protocol testing.
